MichaelRothenpieler Ya I just as a test to see what they actually had.🤪 I didn’t want anymore. I call total BS on them even having any at this time.🙄
I still say this collaboration has done everything and more than these two companies could have ever hoped for. How many people Google searched for La Marzocco last year at this time compared to searches this year.
The actual production number of knives shouldn’t matter to anyone other than those hoping to profit off it either financially or for bragging rights. If you love collecting it shouldn’t matter apparently if you follow some peoples logic. So many people say resellers should only ask retail price or else they are bad evil people profiting off of unsuspecting collectors. I find that kind of sanctimonious and probably disingenuous in some cases. It’s easy to say you’d do something if you know for one reason or another that you’d never actually be in that position to do it. I’m sorry but this isn’t believable at all. Most people are in a position to accept such charity but suddenly they disappear when they willfully have the opportunity to offer it unprovoked. Offer it anonymously too. Taking credit or looking for some kind of congratulations for your selfless deed is still taking a profit.
Putting caveats on selling a collectable and saying that it was ok to sell them at a higher than retail price is really quite ridiculous. I’ve had it for X amount of time or I never intended to make money off of it. This is something people have come up with to simply make themselves feel like they’re somehow superior to those flippers. You’re the same. Either you sell for suggested retail or you are profiting as a reseller, plan and simple if you want to actually follow some people’s logic. Now if you’re doing it as a business that’s your choice. It’s legal to do and it’s really no one else’s business how you make your money if they are legit items and everything is done honestly without favour. If someone has a back door into a supply that isn’t public that’s wrong and it should be stopped.
Maybe it’s the quantity that a particular eBay reseller is selling that people see that’s really the problem people have. The solution to that is only list and sell one of that item at a time if you’re a reseller. It’s that plain and simple and it doesn’t raise any eyebrows. This is in fact what most resellers do. You have no idea a seller has crates of the same knife unless you have followed their eBay store for a long time. Looking at their feedback is sometimes helpful in determining this but most of time it’s not. After a certain amount of time you cannot tell what item the buyer is leaving feedback for.
Tip When I leave feedback on eBay I always say specifically what the item is in my first line of my feedback. That way the actual item name will always be displayed there for someone else to read even years from now. Just to maybe help the next person out. Maybe the seller has been selling shoelaces and gotten nothing but 5 star feedback for two years now he’s selling fake Rolex watches but has great feedback so he must be legit right?
On a side note all of these people declaring their commitment to selfless acts of kindness to other random collectors they don’t know would really be encouraging if it was reality based. Let’s see it in action now.
Cynical as always
