WilliamR That’s great. It sounds like it’s going to be a good model for you. Yes give it a try and modifying it is always an option if you find the knife too thick.
I never used to like anything more than 3 layers myself but I changed the way I carry the knife now and it really not an issue for me. One of the common pocket clips that allow the knife to be suspended vertically and only recently a pocket clip attached to the key ring loop on the spring. I have even carried Ranger Grip models suspended by a clip like that without issue.
Just a note, the key ring loop will be removed if you get rid of the opening layer/awl as it is part of the spring for those tools. There are options to add a key ring loop elsewhere on the knife but you’ll have to buy another knife for parts to do that. It’s not hard to do but it’s now it’s two knives that you need if you want that feature.
