I love to buy used ones off eBay for cheap, Spartans, Climbers, etc. and depending on the condition I'll wash them in warm soapy water and use an old toothbrush and another soft bristle brush to get the dirt, lint and other bits out. Then I dry thoroughly with a hair dryer and whip everything down with CLP (not food safe) to clean all the blades and tools. After wiping everything down I will sharpen the blades, sometimes replacing the scales and scale tools and finally I put a drop of oil on each joint.
Occasionally if a tool is broken or bent, I'll have to send it back to Victorinox for repair or replacement but not that often.
Then it goes into the cabinet with the rest of the collection.
