Julius A quick mod today. My friend likes to test different Victorinox models for ergonomics, pocket carry comfort, the presence of the tools he needs and the absence of unnecessary ones, and so on. He recently wanted to try a Woodsman (the modern version), but it turned out to be quite difficult to find even on eBay, so we decided to do a mod. For a quick mod, I took a 1980s Champion and removed the unnecessary tools. This way, I didn't have to completely disassemble and reassemble the knife, and even the original rivets remained in place. Shorting original rivets And finally riveting Now we have Woodsman ready for the test! P.S. I didn't put the file line in the drawers in case he wanted to make a Modeler from the Explorer 😉 P.P.S. 1970s Modeler from my collection with today Woodsman:
mluedemann Großartige handwerkliche individuelle Arbeit! Wirklich sehr gut.
MichaelRothenpieler Ori ok, wieder was gelernt.
JJP The Woodsman is one of my favorite models. i do have a New Old Stock example but don’t carry it. fortunately the Huntsman Lite is quite similar so that has become one of my „travel knives“. Would love them to bring back the Woodsman though as it is a little bit thinner and I do also like the magnifying glass. Edit: I meant to also say - great job on this mod! Looks really clean.
Julius You all know how you always want to try a new Victorinox tool set. Yes, I was right – my friend asked me to make a Modeler to compare it to the Woodsman. It's not difficult when you have an Explorer and a file with a backspring and liner. Oh, and my friend loves having as many screwdrivers as possible and asked me to replace the corkscrew with a Phillips one. No problem. P.S. I am once again amazed by the precision and consistency of Victorinox manufacturing – matching parts, manufactured even decades apart, fit perfectly, and everything works like clockwork.
