The kids are out of school now this week here so you can see the increase in summer holiday traffic. Tuesday is a holiday here. It’s Canada Day. So a lot of people are taking Monday off and making it a 4 day weekend. I live in a place where a lot of people in Western Canada come to vacation. Lots of big and small lakes and it gets quite warm here. I tend to avoid going a lot of places when it’s busy like that. I can’t, see my neighbours so it’s nice and mellow here.
I’ve been putting the Pioneer X through its paces the last couple of days. Not trying to find a use for it but it actually saved the day. I got a new truck and I had to drive for a couple of hours on remote gravel roads to get it. I had a problem. I determined there wasn’t enough gas getting to the engine driven pump so there was an issue with the fuel line. I used the only screwdriver in the truck, the one on my Pioneer X. I first used it to disconnect the hose clamps on the fuel line. I got the truck going well enough, coughing and sputtering to drive about 10 km per hour on the road shoulder to an auto parts store. I purchased 3 meters of rubber fuel line, a fuel filter and some extra hose clamps. I ran a new fuel line between the engine and the tank. Just temporarily on top of the frame rail. I used some electrical tape to secure it to a few things along the way. All of this done with just my Pioneer X. Cut the fuel line, cut zap straps holding the old stuff down, tightened all the new hose clamps (4 of them) and also cut the tape while under the truck. So that was my weekend.
I didn’t mess around taking picture but I thought I should get at least one to share the experience. Oh the joys of insisting on owning 50+ year old vehicles. 🙄
