It took me a bit to figure out what the knife was we were actually talking about, but I did. That will be a great model. One I will definitely buy. One I would choose to request be made if Victorinox weren’t doing it on their own.
There’s a lot of things that I see would add costs to this knife that aren’t really necessary. It’s just my view but I don’t care about individual serial numbers, or one off Alox scale texture design change, big display box, charm, etc. If it’s limited to a certain limited production number that’s just fine and good enough for me. I really don’t need to know the individual number. I think given the nature of this community everything should be done to keep the costs down so as to not limit its purchase to just the ones with deep pockets. This may be a big purchase for some and may be the only new knife they might buy this year. It’s would be nice to give those people a chance to own something limited. Maybe if they buy this one they aren’t able to buy a second standard issue knife to actually put into use. I’m not sure how many people will but it would be nice to not have the cost be the reason why someone from the community won’t buy one to use.
Look at how many people complained endlessly about the cost of the original Companion even though it had extras and fancy packaging but jumped on it once it was a little cheaper. Was this because they couldn’t see using the original versions because of the cost like a lot of them said? Who knows?
For colours a shinny copper colour would be my first choice. Second would be a shinny black cherry almost black. Third would be a shinny burnt orange.
I personally don’t like massive packaging. I’m happy with just the standard little grey box every standard Alox comes in. It just adds to cost of the knife anyway. Nothing over the top. If you had to do it I’d be happy with something along the lines of the Annual Limited Edition box. Maybe the exact box you have already with a sleeve in the shape of a large Victorinox shield logo that wraps over the top of the box from the front. That way you only need to design the sleeve.
I see this being a fairly low run. The cost of everything that everyone says they want will have is to be born by a limited number of units. Let’s not go to crazy.
