I think only Erik mentioned this, but maybe someone else also did and I missed it… Anyway, this was not a "pre-limited" knife. No one missed out on this knife because someone else beat them to it.
I love our Community Knife. It's a great knife on its own, and what it symbolizes (to me) makes it even greater. That doesn't mean everyone else needs to view it the same way. I will not enjoy it less just because to some people it's just a way to make some profit. The value we put to this specific knife is extremely subjective.
Maybe we should focus more on what we have (an awesome knife) and what it means to us personally. What others do with theirs is their business and only tarnishes the "personal value" of their own knife, not the whole community's. And they're fine with that. After all, it is literally just a piece of metal.
Members who couldn't get it will get next year's. Future members will miss out on even more. Everyone here is missing knives they would love to have in their collection. Focusing on what we don't have will only create negativity and misdirected animosity towards fellow community members. We're not all here for the exact same reason, and that's fine.
That's why I suggested we all have some cake. It would remove any bitterness caused by this issue, plus - and this is scientifically proven - if you have a good reason to eat cake, it doesn't make you fat. I'm always on the lookout for reasons to eat cake.
