Julius Oh interesting. I've never had these scales off. I just kind of imagined it would lock open and not have a way to unlock. I didn't realize the plastic slider was actually an import part of the lock mechanism.
It reminds me of a car I was working on once. The button on the parking brake handle broke. The parking brake released because that button was all that was holding the ratchet system of the handle engaged. I've never looked at parking brake handles the same since.
