New, and miss the old school forum vibes. So this is fun.
I like to modify things and try to improve them or make them fit better into my daily needs. I came back to victorinox from having benchmade, leatherman, crkt, etc just to try to enhance functionality while still keeping things lightweight and compact.
I generally EDC a super tinker or now a companion. But if I have a 5th pocket I'll take my manager/pioneerX combo. These are mods I've seen online and some that I thought of myself.
Hook File Mod
I was a little disappointed that the majority of the lineup doesn't include a file in the hook. One of the main reasons I choose victorinox is because the scissors are 10/10. I've used them literally my entire life, but I still like to have a file to touch up afterwards. I added this file to the hook on the inside of my Super Tinker (just incase if I messed it up I wouldn't have to look at it) but the inside functions nicely. This mod was done using a hand engraver to stipple the hook. It works very well. Not as aggressive as the authentic hook file, but not a bad thing since I'm just looking to touch up nails.

Windshield Wiper Spring Hook
I initially purchased some amazon suspension hooks but quickly found out that they were not great for long term use. Authentic versions of the same style hooks were expensive and I wanted to come up with a DIY solution. I saw someone suggesting to use windshield wiper springs to bend their own hooks and sure enough, they are great. Springy, takes a polish nicely, and the best part is it's so thin and light it doesn't get in the way as much as the larger suspension hooks. I even put that 90 degree twist in it so the knife would sit correctly in my pocket.

Felix' Can Opener Hook Mod
I decided to do the can opener hook mod to try to get a bit more out of the can opener. Tried my best to retain the original shape but add some additional functionality. Another thing I see SOME people doing is to notch the screwdriver just a bit. This adds more reach into recessed screwholes and does make a difference. I've done this to my alox model as well.

The #1 Philips Mini Tool
I often find myself looking for #1 philips for toy battery compartments. Funny enough I had a cheap one that fit in my corkscrew on my companion so I figured I'd give a shot at melting out the sim tool and replacing it with the larger philips. Definitely not pretty, and it's something I want to revisit. There are 3D printable tool holders I can get made and higher quality screwdrivers I can use but for a proof of concept I think it's great. There's also a pic of it compared to the screwdriver on my 20 year old manager.

I know some of these mods are known, but I don't think I've seen the file one before. Wanted to share in case anyone felt like they needed some inspiration to customize their EDC
