Weird colour variation on my Companion Alox set of knives

Hi all, I got the three companion Alox knives for Christmas in red and the X came a completely different colour to the slim and the small. The slim and small match the community knife and the X is a darker plum shade of red. The slim and the small came in the new two tone Victorinox packaging and the x came in the older silver box. Customer services said colour variations can happen and that was it! I have never experienced this in anything else in my collection and I find that reply a bit weak. As you can imagine these were bought to put in the collection so one being different is not what I’m looking for at all. Anyone got any experience with this at all or can advise. I feel a bit fobbed off by customer services. I like these color discrepancies. Some of the blue pioneer Alox Pioneer LE 2015 edition had the problem: The two alox slabs had a different blue color. That was probably the reason that not so many were offered for sale by VX. Luckily I was able to buy one in 2017 from an online Dutch dealer, who still had one in stock.

Just look at them as conversation pieces!

Thanks for the information, Michael. Yes, with the large quantities run by Victorinox, I think color variations in the alox color coating would be expected. I seem to remember, many years back when the Cadet 5 Colors series was released, there was also some discussion about color variations especially in the orange version.
