See we’re all different. I really like the package opener a lot. Anything will cut tape if you want it to. A key, a pen, etc and yes a knife will too. Most people who don’t like the package opener don’t even have a Companion. I’m not here to tout the praises for it but the key to the tool is the serrations on the blade. It cuts through the sides of a corrugated box like it had a zipper. The cardboard doesn’t pile up in front of the tool either. It’s also quick and doesn’t gum up or dull a blade.
As far as new tools go. I would like to see the LED in a couple different Lite models changed to a black lite. For quickly inspecting for counterfeit items. Currency mainly but passports and other documents also have these countermeasures.
I would really like to see a return of the long technician screwdriver.
Being Canadian and home to the best screw design ever, I’d selfishly like to see a #2 (red) Robertson inline screwdriver. The screws were only found here at one time but I see them finally catching on elsewhere in the world now, 100+ years late.
With my Search and Rescue background I would also like to see a whistle incorporated into the scales of some knives. Knives intended to be used while doing outdoor activities. Though this could also be used to call for help or alert people in an urban environment too. A whistle of quality like the Fox 40 with no moving parts and loud.
I would like to see a smaller flat knife blade designed for wood carving.
How about a small spork. I don’t know how this will translate with the AI software but half spoon, half fork. Just something short and small like the multipurpose wrench that lives on the Swiss Champ XXL. It could be placed opposite a flashlight, magnifying glass or inline Philips screwdriver.
