Who cares? Really?
To those so upset about custom knives in general I say:
Do you have to like every thread on the forum? Skip past it. You’re not the main player.
It was obvious from the title that this thread wasn’t for you why are you sharing negative comments in a thread you’d clearly hate? Seeking to divide or make someone feel unwelcome by posting such things shouldn’t be welcomed here. If you really want to create a rule how about we make that a rule. Can you not see how excited people are to share ideas sometimes? Why do some people want to piss on that?
A lot of the conversation about customized knives is just the same couple of people whining about it. What those people don’t seem to understand is they are only giving the topic traction?
Just don’t comment and move along? It’s that easy. This isn’t some kind authoritarian reality. Other people may not share your opinion and that’s ok.
This is precisely why I suggested a couple of months ago that there should be a category for custom knives.
Don’t kid yourself custom knife builders are buying a lot of knives. That’s a lot of knives Victorinox is never going to have to warranty also. They are loosing nothing by including this segment of the market here. Why would they want to alienate any customers?
I customize some knives, other knives I don’t. Who cares what I do with the knives I buy? It’s no one’s business. No one can protect you from buying a customized knife. There is also nothing, zero you can do to stop those people from doing it. There are no rules or laws that will ever protect you from that so I suggest you either only buy from Victorinox or from people you trust. If a deal seems too good to be true it probably is. I would be willing to bet money that I have more receipts for knives purchased directly from Victorinox just since January than a lot of people. Victorinox could see that if they wanted to even. All knives purchased directly from their web store. Several at a time too. Why would Victorinox want to discourage me from buying new knives to use for parts?
The argument that people don’t modify vehicles right out of the showroom is completely ridiculous, I have to say. I don’t know what things are like there but the first thing I do with any new vehicle is change the tires and possibly the wheels. Then probably exhaust. Etc, etc. All within the first 100km. One of the largest trade shows in the world is called SEMA. They only exist to show what aftermarket manufacturers are producing for the new and popular vehicle platforms. This is a huge market.
Inclusion not exclusion here I say.
