The things you read have been translated from another language to your language by Ai. A couple of posts I’ve read today may have shown a little confusion or it just wasn’t clear what was being translated.
Here’s one simple example:
Re. German Knife Laws
I’ve seen this in a number of posts but I don’t know if it’s an Ai translation quirk or if it is fact real.
It says your knife laws in Germany are in fact gun laws. As in firearms. You could possibly need a “Gun Licence” to carry a knife in some cases. I’ve seen this in other posts before too but I’ve never asked if this is in fact the case. A “Firearms Licence” for a knife or is it some kind of more generic like a “Weapons Licence”? May be that’s what it is.
It’s probably just like knife scales are translated into either “bowls” or “shells”. “Shells” I can kind of understand but “Bowls” are what I eat soup out of. As a user here you kind of have to learn these funny little quirks. I’m sure there are examples when translating then other direction too. I think it’s only noticeable because the translation here is actually so good. You forget this has all been translated then you suddenly hit a really strange word in the middle of a sentence that doesn’t fit.
If you see a strange comment from a new English speaking community member this why so don’t take offence.
The same goes for every other language. Your first and natural reaction/response may be incorrect.
