WilliamR I think I saw somewhere that the Brass Pins used on the 91mm knives are 2.5mm and 2.3mm, is this correct? If so do any of you have a source of supply for this material and is a particular grade of Brass Alloy required? TIA
29roadie No you want 2.5mm and 2.2mm pins. I buy them from Amazon. 10 or 20 long rods in a package. You can also buy the brass rings/bushings/rivets whatever you want to call them from various sellers on Etsy and I think I saw them on AliExpress also. Also two different sizes of course.
29roadie MichaelRothenpieler Yes they are called something different every time I see them referenced around the internet. I wonder what Victorinox actually calls them? Maybe @Jessica might be able to ask the powers at be so we could once and for all call them the same thing? I just list all the names I can think of here because I don’t know how the translation is going to go. Unfortunately I don’t have a link sorry. I have a number of new sets of them but I can’t remember where I got them. I pull apart so many knives that I always have lots to reuse. I will use new ones if I’m putting a high torque knife together like something with a CyberTool driver or watch case opener.
WilliamR These are Rivet Caps. Sadly a US company so no good for me due to shipping etc. https://sakparts.com/products/6pcs-brass-rivet-caps-tool-parts-for-91mm-victorinox-swiss-army-sak
SCTwist WilliamR $20 for a set for 1 knife seems ridiculously expensive. I'd look for a repair knife on ebay and drill out the pins carefully so that you can reuse the rivet caps. You then have a few spare parts as well (liners, springs, blade(s), etc.
MichaelRothenpieler SCTwist sehe ich auch als vorteilhafter an. Die Messing-Stifte kann man auch einigermaßen gut aufbohren
WilliamR SCTwist I posted the link in response to Michael’s question. I don’t need any. If I decide to modify a SAK I’m confident I can do it without damaging the rivet caps.
