WilliamR Before thinking to measure the one that came with my Compact, I looked online to see what size Pin to get for my new Companion as it didn’t come with one. The answer I got was 32mm x .7mm. I tried a .65mm Pin I had to hand and it was a bit too tight. I then measured the one from the compact and its .6mm diameter. Did Victorinox change the size of the Pin? I have some 32mm x .6 Pins so I’m sorted now.
29roadie I'm just going from memory but I purchased pins with this size description: number 22 dressmaker pins I think that was what they were but you'd better confirm it.
WilliamR They’re not normally sized like that over here. They give the actual size of the pin instead like this:
hitman13 I have used the pins they use when displaying insects (can’t think what word is) they are #5 on EBay . 100 for about £4.
WilliamR This is what I saw online though, which begged my question. Has the Pin size changed? Or maybe they’re forcing a larger Pin in? Certainly the 0.6mm Pin in my original Compact stays in place without falling out.
Alox69 I prefer the straight pins with the spherical ball end and it makes it easier to remove the pin from the scale and they are typically a little longer than usual straight pins. This is pretty well known among long time SAK enthusiasts. I've got the black ball straight pin for my black Compact. They work great and the ball end gives you something more to hold onto when using and the extra length is also nice
