I grew up in Germany and during History class I’ve often wondered how my grandparents’ generation could have just stood by and let things happen…and here I get a sideline seat watching it happen right before my eyes. It is maddening that we can’t seem to learn from history.
My cousin, who also emigrated, succumbed to the siren song of MAGA and I was always very critical how he could have let himself get roped in, but seeing the AfD on the rise in Germany - I guess can’t be too critical.
But, yes I hope the world gets a good wake up call and reaches out to their fellow man (and woman) and doesn’t believe in social media or extremism.
