I have made a number of custom knives. Everything from complete disassembly and reassembly to what I would consider slight modifications.
I like to build myself a knife that doesn’t actually exist. I don’t sell them but I do give them away sometimes. I’ve made bladeless knives or just some crazy combination of the most useful tools to me. Most knives I do this to are built by disassembling multiple brand new knives just to make the one knife I want. So every one of these I make I usually buy 3 or 4 brand new knives. I see these as modular knives that are perfectly suited to have the tools swapped around.
I have coloured the plus scale tools black or other colours with non standard artist pens, and also changed lot of knives to have plus scales. I have engine turned some brass scales and engine turned tools and blades for other knives also. I don’t generally like to use non Victorinox scales on my knives. It’s important to me that they still feel and look like a stock knife.
I always add a pocket clip with a small Victorinox cord. Lately I’ve just started exploring pocket clips on 91mm knives. I guess these are also customizations.
The options to customize a Victorinox knife are endless as we probably all know. I always enjoy seeing what others create and how they make a knife their own.
