Zweck_Los What is limited edition anyway? Something with a number on it? Or something that was only produced for a few years or months? Knives are sold with a production run of several thousand more or less and then they say limited edition. Well, in my personal opinion, that's not limited in such large quantities.
To me Limited edition means it’s production was limited to a certain predetermined number of units. Individually numbered or not.
I believe even though the name suggests they are made endlessly over the year the Annual Alox Limited Edition knives are even set to a specific predetermined production number.
I personally wouldn’t classify a knife that’s only available in a specific region as a limited edition unless its production is limited to a set number. There certainly are many Limited Edition knives that are region specific also.
There a regional specific knives and collections also. They would only qualify to me as a limited edition as I said if their production was set to a limited predetermined number. I say that just to clarify a knife where production was cut short for some other reason other than a predetermined production number. Maybe the market isn’t there, the production cost is to high, availability of materials, bad tool design, flaws, etc.
I will also suggest the Emergency Tool Huntsman Lite isn’t a limited edition knife. It’s only available in a specific region as we all know I’m sure but there is nothing that I can find that suggests it production is set to a limited number. Maybe someone can correct me? To me it looks like a regional request by retailers and the public to offer a small tool that can and would I’m sure be a necessity in an emergency. Japan probably has more chance to experience a severe natural disaster with no warning than probably anywhere else in the world. A disaster where it could take days if not weeks for help to reach you. Like that tsunami that happened at the start of winter in 2011. How are you going to stay warm if everything is washed away or under a collapsed building? Maybe you or the people you are with can’t leave. I know I’d wish a had a huntsman lite with a small fire starter and whistle. I don’t think that knife is going anywhere soon. If anything I could see that being sold in other regions soon. But maybe I’m wrong? If that’s the case nevermind.🤓
