I’ve been carrying my 91mm knives with a pocket clip for a while now. Usually just the type that allows the knife to hang down vertically. That was a great revelation that changed the knives I chose to carry every day. I went from a 2 or 3 layer knife to a 4 and 5 layer knife sometimes even more. I love it because I don’t even notice it in my pocket anymore. I attach a Victorinox lanyard to the top of the clip do it’s easy to pull the knife up and out.
I was recently using a Sentinel Clip for a few days. The fixed pocket clip on that knife made the 111mm knife hardly noticeable in my pocket. I’m more of a 91mm knife guy so I was looking for a solution. I’ve seen lots of different 91mm scales modified with a pocket clip attached to them. I didn’t really like that idea for a couple of reasons. I wanted a better way of attaching them other than just relying on the pressed on scales. I’d also remembered seeing pocket clips that mounted to where the key ring does. I didn’t give it much thought because it didn’t look very sturdy or so I thought. I was also concerned that it would feel noticeable when attached. It was no problem at all for me. I was surprised to see you can still easily get to the tweezers too. It’s not an issue.
Yesterday I received a SwissKarry pocket clip in the mail. I just wanted to give it a try. I have to say I was quite impressed with the build quality and the fit. These fit with a super tight tolerance. I wasn’t expecting that. Tip - If you get one you have to open the cap lifter or the clip will not seat tight to the loop. You’ll know this is the case when the screws appear to not be long enough. There is a QR Code that you can scan on the packaging that takes you directly to an install video on YouTube. I’ve used the knife many times today and it was great. I want to see how it hold up after a few weeks. I forget what I paid but it wasn’t cheap either.
Have you tried any other brands of the fixed pocket clips that were good? I know there are many of the hanging type that I was using before but I’m looking at the fixed ones now. The 91mm fits great in the pocket when carried like that on a fixed clip.
