I finally received my knives a couple of days ago. I had them sent to my friend's place in Germany; so even though they were bought over a period of time, to me, it feels like I just found a treasure.
I was putting off sharing this picture because it’s boring compared to those of the great knives some of the community members have shared (true collectors’ treasures) or the beautiful pictures that DatiMom takes. This is a group picture of the entire haul placed boringly next to each other on my desk. 😳
Nothing new here. All are knives the community has been sharing pictures of and talking about for the last couple of months. I will share a few notes though, in no particular order.
Like some other members, I also had a similar experience with the Barista knife (scratches on the scales), but I can live with that.
The Community Knife will always be cherished for as long as I live. Before "meeting" all of you, I was the weird guy with the Swiss Army Knife obsession. Now I feel like a member of a community of weird people with a SAK obsession. 😜
The Winter Magic is now my new favorite one with wooden scales.
Speaking of wooden scales, the Evoke wood was still missing from my Evoke collection. It now proudly joins its sisters as the newest member.
The Companion knives are a great addition to my collection, even if they (probably) won't be EDCed… and the Synergy series (still incomplete, but one day), is simply amazing. I don't get most of the criticisms. I'm sure there's always space for improvement, but they're great as they are. And the colors – all three – are the best I’ve seen on a SAK. Best red (my favorite), best blue, and even best silver.
Now what do I say about the Special Companion Damast LE 2025? Well, it does have “special” in its name for a reason. Other than being the newest member of my favorite series to collect, I just can't stop touching those scales. They're so unique. I just love it!
I kept the Year of the Horse knife till last because it’s the only "bittersweet" new arrival. The knife arrived with a crushed insert (pic below). My stomach cramps just thinking about it, but I also can't afford to buy another one just because the cardboard insert is damaged. I will have to find a way to be at peace with this. 😕
