I never realized the connection with MacGyver and Swiss Army Knives until just recently. I’m probably the last person too.
Of course the name MacGyver has become synonymous with jury rigging or modification and I would say even replaced all other terms.
I’ve never actually watched it once. How strange that seems now to me. At the time I didn’t watch TV. I guess I was probably too busy chasing girls and also too poor from buying music gear….. and chasing girls. 😆
They actually filmed much of the show where I was living at the time. I’d see the actors around quite often.
Actually at the time I was working as a supervisor of security (yes, surprising as it is) at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It’s the old provincial courthouses here. They would film all kinds of shows and movies there because all the old marble lined hallways and court rooms existed still. They were filming an episode there and the director of the episode who was apparently also one of the main actors lost his temper with me in a big way. He was screaming directly in my face, spitting mad let’s say. Trying to intimidate me in every way he could as I towered over him 😆. My lack of a reaction made him even more mad as he did this. There must have been 75 people standing there with their mouths open watching him freaking out on me. All the actors/crew etc. All of this because he wanted access through a secure area to use a washroom on the other side of the door whenever he wanted. It made him absolutely crazy that I just kept saying no and didn’t react. He was a bald guy. Someone said he payed MacGyver’s boss on the show. That probably didn’t make we want to watch it either I guess now that I think about it. I’d actually almost forgot about this event. 🤪
I guess that’s my MacGyver moment. Does that count?
